<p>Job Purpose The Data Center Mechanical Engineer owns the mechanical and cooling infrastructure of the data center at engineering level, from the central cooling plant through to the data hall cooling environment. The role is responsible for mechanical maintenance strategy, system reliability, operational procedures, environmental performance, vendor management, safety compliance, spare-parts planning, and emergency response. The Mechanical Engineer directs the Mechanical Manning Technicians, authorizes equipment changeovers and critical maintenance activities, approves mechanical procedures, and acts as the mechanical technical authority during incidents and operational escalations.</p><p>Key Responsibilities and Areas of Ownership</p><ul><li>Take engineering ownership of the data center mechanical and cooling infrastructure, including chillers, cooling towers, chilled-water pumps, condenser-water pumps, heat exchangers, CRAH units, CRAC units, AHUs, ventilation systems, fans, filters, coils, valves, actuators, piping systems, and associated controls.</li><li>Manage the operation, reliability, and performance of chilled-water and precision-cooling systems serving the data halls and supporting areas.</li><li>Own mechanical equipment operating procedures, changeover procedures, start-up and shutdown sequences, and equipment rotation plans.</li><li>Authorize, lead, and supervise critical mechanical activities, including chiller changeovers, pump changeovers, cooling-tower changeovers, isolation activities, system draining, system filling, and restoration of equipment to service.</li><li>Monitor and maintain data hall environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, airflow, differential pressure, cooling capacity, and equipment loading.</li><li>Review chilled-water supply and return temperatures, water flow, system pressure, differential pressure, valve positions, and system delta-T to identify performance issues and operational risks.</li><li>Manage cooling redundancy and capacity to ensure sufficient cooling remains available during maintenance, equipment failure, testing, or abnormal operating conditions.</li><li>Own the mechanical safety program, including Lockout/Tagout, Permit to Work, risk assessments, safe isolation, refrigerant safety, chemical-handling controls, and compliance with HSE requirements.</li><li>Develop and manage the annual mechanical Planned Preventive Maintenance program in accordance with OEM recommendations, equipment criticality, maintenance history, and operational requirements.</li><li>Prepare, review, approve, and maintain mechanical Standard Operating Procedures, Methods of Procedure, Emergency Operating Procedures, maintenance instructions, risk assessments, and equipment changeover procedures.</li><li>Ensure that all mechanical maintenance activities are planned around available cooling redundancy and executed without compromising data center availability.</li><li>Own vendor coordination for mechanical maintenance activities and supervise OEM major services, equipment overhauls, repairs, inspections, and specialist testing.</li><li>Review vendor method statements, risk assessments, service reports, test results, recommendations, and corrective-action requirements.</li><li>Manage critical spare-parts and inventory planning for chillers, pumps, cooling towers, CRAH and CRAC units, valves, actuators, sensors, filters, belts, bearings, motors, VFDs, and other mechanical systems.</li><li>Analyze cooling-system performance, equipment efficiency, energy consumption, operating trends, alarm history, temperature profiles, water-flow conditions, and equipment loading.</li><li>Identify and implement opportunities to improve cooling efficiency, airflow management, chilled-water performance, equipment sequencing, and overall energy performance without reducing system resilience.</li><li>Investigate mechanical faults, high-temperature conditions, leaks, abnormal vibration, low-flow conditions, low delta-T, equipment trips, control failures, and recurring alarms.</li><li>Lead root cause analysis for mechanical incidents and equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.</li><li>Direct, develop, and train Mechanical Manning Technicians in operational procedures, inspections, first-line maintenance, alarm response, safe isolation, and incident escalation.</li><li>Review technician shift logs, inspection checklists, operating readings, alarm reports, and job-card closure records.</li><li>Support testing and commissioning activities, integrated systems testing, functional performance testing, equipment acceptance, redundancy verification, and operational-readiness activities.</li><li>Support predictive and condition-based maintenance programs, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, refrigerant checks, water and coolant sampling, thermal inspections, leak detection, and equipment-performance trending.</li><li>Manage liquid-cooling systems, Cooling Distribution Units, coolant loops, leak-detection systems, valves, pumps, and associated controls where installed.</li><li>Coordinate water-treatment activities, water-quality monitoring, chemical dosing, sampling, and corrective actions for chilled-water, condenser-water, and liquid-cooling systems where applicable.</li><li>Support WTP, STP, plumbing, drainage, and mechanical fire-protection systems where included within the data center operational scope.</li><li>Coordinate with electrical, BMS, IT, operations, HSE, vendors, and management teams during planned maintenance, incidents, testing, and emergency situations.</li><li>Maintain accurate mechanical documentation, asset records, maintenance reports, operating procedures, equipment histories, incident reports, testing records, and technical drawings.</li><li>Act as the mechanical technical authority during cooling incidents and operational escalations on a 24/7 on-call basis.</li></ul><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li>Engineer Level</li><li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.</li><li>Minimum of 5 years of mechanical, HVAC, cooling-plant, or critical-facility operations and maintenance experience.</li><li>At least 2 years of experience in a data center or another critical facility where loss of cooling could affect essential operations.</li><li>Demonstrated engineering-level experience with chilled-water systems, precision cooling, or critical HVAC systems.</li><li>Practical knowledge of chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAH units, CRAC units, AHUs, valves, actuators, VFDs, and mechanical controls.</li><li>Experience in managing cooling redundancy, equipment capacity, environmental conditions, and critical maintenance activities in a live operational environment.</li><li>Demonstrated ownership of mechanical maintenance planning, technical procedure writing, incident response, vendor management, and spare-parts planning.</li><li>Experience preparing or approving SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, risk assessments, isolation plans, and maintenance procedures.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret P&amp;IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment schematics, sequence-of-operation documents, control diagrams, and OEM technical manuals.</li><li>Working knowledge of BMS or BAS platforms, mechanical alarms, equipment trends, sensors, control sequences, and environmental monitoring.</li><li>Good understanding of chilled-water temperatures, flow, pressure, differential pressure, delta-T, heat transfer, airflow, humidity, <p><h4>Job description</h4> <p>The aircraft mechanic III performs the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance and maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of complex to extreme difficulty.</p> <p>Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.</p> <p>Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.</p> <p>Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals.</p> <p>Make entries in aircraft logs and records, and responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.</p> <p>Plan, conduct, and supervise aircraft technical inspections.</p> <p>Compute basic weight and balance records.</p> <p>Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.</p> <p>Ensure compliance with aircraft configuration control, Army oil analysis program, and test measuring diagnostic equipment calibration.</p> <p>Provide lower level technicians guidance in aircraft repair and technical inspection techniques and procedures according to directives, technical manuals, work standards, and operational policies.</p> <p>Prepare evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance, repair, and related activities.</p> <p>Perform other duties as requested.</p> <h4>Minimum requirements</h4> <p>This role requires candidate to obtain Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check through UK Govt prior to deployment.</p> <p>Completion of high school or equivalent required.</p> <p>Five (5) or more years aviation maintenance experience within the past ten (10) years on that mission design series (MDS).</p> <p>Experience in maintenance, modification, and repair of tactical aircraft systems of the type being serviced and their associated components.</p> <p>Must be in possession of a passport with 3 years of validity remaining at the time of hire and be able to travel internationally.</p> <p>Able to clear CENTCOM medical for deployment.</p> <h4>Knowledge & skills</h4> <ul> <li>Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.</li> <li>Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.</li> <li>Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears.</li> <li>Working knowledge of technical publications and logistics information systems.</li> <li>Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.</li> <li>Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.</li> <li>Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by mechanics.</li> <li>The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.</li> </ul> <h4>Physical requirements / working environment</h4> <ul> <li>Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.</li> <li>Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.</li> <li>Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.</li> <li>May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.</li> <li>Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.</li> <li>Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.</li> <li>Will be required to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).</li> <li>Must be able to pass a respirator physical and fit test qualification.</li> <li>May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.</li> <li>Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.</li> <li>May work in maintenance shop or outside.</li> <li>Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.</li> <li>May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.</li> <li>May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.</li> </ul></p><p></p>
