Responsibilities Job Details / Position Summary The Aviation Support Equipment Technician diagnoses malfunctions repairs and maintains Support Equipment (SE); inspects and approves completed maintenance actions; troubleshoots discrepancies by studying drawings, wiring diagram schematics, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, technical publications and historical maintenance actions. The Technician uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, and document maintenance actions. The Technician analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs SE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes and hand tools. Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical maintenance data sources. The Technician performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on SE by inspecting, testing and operating SE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation. Services equipment with required fluids such as oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant and compressed air. The Technician also performs removal, disassembly, repair, cleaning, corrosion treatment, re-assembly and installation of malfunctioning CSE accessories and components, as well as stenciling and marking SE, storing, handling, labelling, using and disposing of hazardous materials and hazardous waste. The Technician prepares SE for preservation and mobility deployment. The Technician operates, cleans, inspects and services all assigned support equipment, to include towing vehicles, to include Bobtail Ford trucks, Tow Tractors (Tug), and U-30 aircraft tow vehicle. In addition to performing inspections and maintenance, the technician practices good housekeeping, Tool Control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety awareness. Description: • Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs according to publication/technical instructions and technical directives on all required support equipment. Determines requirements for repairs, modifications, and part replacements. May be required to verify/inspect work performed by other technicians for which he/she is qualified to perform.• Reviews, interprets, and applies maintenance procedures in support of assigned maintenance actions. Applies practical knowledge of wiring schematics and the interpretation of technical data contained within those schematics and/or sources of maintenance data• Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.• Performs “O”, “I” and authorized commercial repair of all CSE, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and Palletized Systems Equipment (PSE) in accordance with the KAF 4790.2 and applicable maintenance manuals.• Performs scheduled, unscheduled, and other hourly or calendar inspections in accordance with the KAF 4790.2 and applicable publications.• Troubleshoots, repairs, reworks and maintains hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical systems. Removes, adjusts, repairs and replaces/re-installs functional components and incorporates applicable technical directives and bulletins.• Ensures the accurate entry of data into the locally used computer database system to document maintenance actions, monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, and maintain equipment records. • Uses Hazardous Materials such as chemical sealants, oil, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid, etc. and performs proper handling and disposal of chemicals and petroleum products required during maintenance.• Uses illustrated parts breakdowns (IPB)s to determine material requirements, research associated part numbers, and requisitions repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through supply system.• Performs close tolerance adjustment, repair and rework of equipment in and out of shop area.• Services, inspects and tests aviation support equipment used for direct and indirect aircraft support.• Troubleshoots, inspects, services, tests and re-conditions storage batteries, to include lead-acid, gel and sealed type.• Performs Corrosion Control/Prevention, Preservation and de-preservation of Support Equipment (SE).• Performs general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment.• Conducts off station maintenance when required.• When necessary, perform other duties and functions critical to the support of the program. Qualifications Education / Certifications: • High School Diploma • Must be able to obtain/maintain the following required certifications/qualifications: Applicable Support Equipment licensing: + “I” Level & “O” Level Tire & Wheel certification + Hydraulic Contamination certification + Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) qualification + Corrosion Prevention and Control and Aircraft Paint qualification + “I” Level Battery Maintenance certification Experience: • Five years of hands-on aviation ground support equipment maintenance experience preferred. A combination of formal education, technical schools, and practical experience may be substituted. • Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) 4790.2 or equivalent experience with Air Force Instruction 21-101 preferred. • Must have a working knowledge of first aid procedures to be used in an emergency. • Must have a strong knowledge base of aviation maintenance programs, processes, and procedures (example: Safety, Tool Control, HAZMAT, inspection programs, administrative requirements, support equipment, calibration/torque programs & procedures). Specific Requirements: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level security clearance. • Must be United States (U.S.) citizen , be able to read, write, and understand the English language • Must be able to obtain a United States Passport. If you currently possess a United States Passport it must have at least 24 months of time remaining before expiration. • Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License. • Must be willing to follow Kuwait Labor Law policies and able to adhere to and comply with all Kuwaiti Labor and Immigration requirements. • Must be willing to administrate, maintain, and manage maintenance programs (ex. Tool Control, HAZMAT, FOD, MetCal, etc…) as required by local policies. • Must be willing and able to comply with all program functional requirements to include but not limited to: The performance of “I” Level maintenance functions in support of In-Flight Refueling Reel/system maintenance, NLG & MLG Tire re-building, MLG Brake repair/rebuilding, Battery maintenance support, and Oxygen Regulator testing/repair. • Must be willing and able to deploy off-site as required to support Kuwait Air Force operations. • Must be willing to work flexible hours, to include day shift, night shift or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required. • Must have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and follow instructions when directed on assigned tasks. • Have a strong knowledge base of intermediate level maintenance business practices and procedures • Must have skills and aptitude to cross train and/or support other maintenance technicians in completing assigned maintenance actions. • As a Subject Matter Expert, must be willing to perform in-depth research, troubleshoot, and perform “O” level, “I” level, and commercial level maintenance functions on all applicable SE systems and components necessary to return equipment to a Ready for Issue (RFI) status; this includes determining material requirements, researching part numbers, ordering, tracking, and receiving materials as required to facilitate SE inspections/repairs. • Must be able to communicate directly with the customer, pilots, air crew members, management, and maintenance personnel to gather and relay pertinent data/information necessary to ensure equipment is available to support aircraft launches and maintenance. • Must have an in-depth knowledge of applicable technical orders/job guides/publications—read, interpret, follow and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publications. • Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations. • Must be able to overcome cultural differences and to think outside the box, innovate, and provide solutions to the many complex problems and obstacles associated with international contracting and desert climate operations. • Must perform as a team member, contributing to the success of the KC-130J / Common Support Equipment (CSE) Program. • Must be willing and able to work with hazardous materials and conduct specialty on-the-job training. • Must be dependable and timely in managing assigned tasks, perform consistent quality maintenance. • Must have a proven ability to work independently with minimal direction. Material & Equipment Directly Used Uses digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, diagnosing software, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools to analyze, diagnose, and repair applicable Support Equipment. Working Environment Environmental conditions are diverse and could range anywhere from an office environment where there is little or no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to severe changes in temperature, less than adequate lighting, dust and wind. On occasion individuals may be required to work in areas where high noise hazards will prevail, and hearing protection is required. <p>A Fire Lieutenant is a work leader (crew-chief) responsible for directing and participating in the work of the crew of one piece of firefighting apparatus. Typically, the crew chief performs the following. Directs the crew in firefighting activities, working from specific orders from higher level supervisors at the scene; directs and participates in practice drills and training classes for the assigned crew; directs the crew in fire protection inspection functions; assigns crew members to station maintenance work such as cleaning equipment; prepares reports for the supervisor concerning fire runs, training, inspection, or other topics; and takes charge of all firefighting activities at the scene of a fire in the absence of the supervisor. Conducts recurrent proficiency training and OJT. Applies industry standards and accepted trade practices to perform tasks required to execute and accomplish emergency incident objectives and directions. Attends all training, instructs classes as required, and participates in the DoD Firefighter Certification Program and physical fitness programs. Exercises caution to avoid personal injury and property damage. Coordinate with the Lead / Senior ELV Engineer for further clarifications on design requirements. Share the heat dissipation calculation with the Lead/Senior ELV Engineer. Revise the report based on client’s comments (if required). Share the electrical load requirements with the Lead/Senior ELV Engineer. Review data collection drawings / documents about the existing utilities around the project. Respond to site RFIs related to design. Review the drawings prepared by the modelers and ensure that all the client’s and authorities’requirements are respected. Also ensure that all the contractual obligations are followed. Maintain continuous quality control on all drawings produced under the section, ensuring that they adhereto PACE quality and CAD standards (e.g., high standards of visual presentation, error free, properlydimensioned, x-referenced etc.) Ensure that ELV Model is shared every Thursday as per Pace protocol with all the discipline working on theproject for coordination. Coordinate the major space requirements for the ELV services such as but not limited to MOC Room, Main Server Room, Security Control Room, IDF rooms, etc. with the project Architects. Assist in conducing site surveys (as and when required) to investigate the layout of existing ELV systemsprior to design. Assist on site ELV engineers by responding to technical queries which they raise. Attend project coordination workshops, and site visits during the project design and implement theoutcome of the same in the design. Based on the approved concept design, prepare the scheme for the ELV services for the project. Brief the same to the ELV Modelers and guide them for modelling the ELV services for the project. Based on the received information’s prepare the design and layout plans for ELV systems. Coordinate with HVAC Engineer for smoke zones used in the project and ensure that the Fire Alarm Zoneare in line with the smoke zones. Coordinate with team members effectively to ensure that all projects progress as planned in order not tocause project delays or budget over runs. Coordinate with the Architects and receive the area schedules and other project information. Ensure all the project deliverables are fulfilled during the different project submission stages. Prepare calculations and electrical load requirement for the ELV Systems. Prepare concept narrative report. Coordinate with Architects for the ELV services space requirements in the project. Assist site staff in verifying sample materials submitted by contractors (as and when required) to ensurecompliance against ministerial requirements and specifications. Attend site visit as required. Required Experience 5+ years Experience in designing ELV Systems. Awareness of Local and International Guidelines/ Codes/ Regulations for ELV Systems. Knowledge of Local and International codes such as KFF (local civil defence), GCC codes & regulations and NFPA. Knowledge of building managment system design Full knowledge of preparation of technical specification for ELV systems. Basic Knowledge in Auto CAD and Revit. Previous experience in value engineering study to ELV systems. Experience in handling multiple projects simultaneously in a similar environment. Working knowledge of MS Office. Cad, Revit software. Possess regional experience in design of ELV system. Previous experience shall include design of ELV system for Mega Projects of different categories such as Mixed Use Development, Educational buildings, Health Care, Hotel, Sport Facilities, Neighbourhoods, High Rise buildings, etc. Shall be capable of providing project presentations to client and authorities. Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Professional certification or relevant ELV certifications will be an advantage. Certifications & Memberships Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) Membership or Any local Engineer's society membership (for hiring outside Kuwait). Any Certifications related to ELV systems. <p>The Non-Destruction Inspection Technician (NDI) III inspects aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods and performs fluid analysis.</p>
<p>Conduct the training and examination on all NDT methods to certify and to re-certify all operators and inspectors as outlined in NAS 410 or ASNT-CP-189.</p>
<p>Determine test method and prepare fluids and parts for nondestructive inspection.</p>
<p>Interpret nondestructive inspection test results and provide information about defects to repair center.</p>
