EH&S Specialist is responsible for monitoring and providing technical support to an assigned area of the program. Specialist will evaluate work sites to ensure operations are in compliance with Federal, State, and local requirements, provide technical support to area supervisors/managers in corrective actions for compliance deficiencies, conduct observations, conduct program evaluations, and perform root cause analysis (RCA). Specialist will develop training packages and instruct training packages. Specialist will be required to operate monitoring equipment and conduct specialized testing of physical, chemical, and environmental stressors. Specialist will write technical reports and will interact with the middle management team. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. + Implements a standardized ESH program, which is Management System based. + Performs risk analysis, develops programs that exceed basic regulatory compliance, identifies needed resources (such as personal protective equipment) and budget for resources, identifies required training for employees in various operations, performs and documents training, documents and submits monthly performance metrics, performs ESH inspections, and implements employee reward and recognition program. The role also validates tactical digital communications systems, including SINCGARS/Harris radios, JCR, and BFT, and performs diagnostics using TMDE to isolate electronic node faults to the Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) level. OCHA also ensures a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response efforts. OCHA's mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions. Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Humanitarian Affairs officer in OCHA’s Liaison Office in Kuwait, the Communications Intern will support related to humanitarian engagement with the Government of Kuwait and partners in country, as well as contribute to communications activities. This internship is based in Kuwait for a maximum period of six months, beginning at a mutually agreed start date. OCHA Kuwait is part of the External Relations Section, which sits within the Partnerships Branch, Financing and Outreach Division. It aims to strengthen the engagement and partnership with all Member States, regional and intergovernmental organizations, in support of OCHA’s role in promoting principled and effective humanitarian action and to sustain and grow political and financial support to the multilateral humanitarian system. Under the overall guidance of the Humanitarian Affairs Officer The intern will perform a variety of tasks, depending on the internship period, including but not limited to: • Support the development of communication products on humanitarian needs targeting specific audience • Assists in the planning of events organized / co-organized by OCHA in Kuwait. • Develops and disseminates social media material on OCHA-Kuwait partnerships. • Support in coordinating meetings and consultations with partners in the country. • Draft summaries, meeting minutes and reports. • Performs any other administrative work as required.<br> Qualifications/special skills<br>Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); in communication and media or other related fields.
