As a Restaurant Supervisor, you will lead a team of dedicated staff, overseeing daily operations and maintaining the highest standards of service and quality.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Taking and preparing order(s) and handing them to guests
  • Receiving and dealing with guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Ensure all guests receive positive and professional service to the highest standards to exceed the customer's expectations
  • Supervise a section of the Restaurant/ Outlet. Oversee all operational standards for the section and lead the team to deliver an outstanding guest experience
  • Handle all customer queries and comments to ensure customer satisfaction by acting as a host. Resolve customer complaints in a timely manner and to the guest satisfaction
  • Escalate any concerns to senior management as appropriate
  • Have a complete and thorough knowledge of all menu items including beverage items (cocktails, mocktails) as well as promotions, in order to be able to describe and recommend products to customers
  • Driving sales by upselling/cross selling and working together as a team towards achieving the outlet targets
  • Table service if applicable
  • Manage the set up and close down of tables within section. Ensure tables are turned around and ready with minimal delay, if applicable
  • Manage the employees on duty and ensure the highest standards of service are delivered to exceed customer expectations
  • Planning and work scheduling (ensuring sufficient associates on shifts, holidays, work breaks and registration of sickness absence)
  • Ensure food quality and consistency is delivered at all times
  • Preparing semi-finished products in accordance with regulations
  • Spreading rolls and putting toppings on
  • Preparing and plating simple snacks
  • Making hot beverages, like tea and coffee (follow outlet standards on coffee and coffee control)
  • Preparing simple meals
  • Stocking up the sales counter and maintaining it in a presentable state
  • Operating an automated cash register, and compliance with HMSHost regulations on the cashier agreement, money handling and deposit
  • Ensure cash handling procedures are adhered to and POS regulations are followed

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards. Monitor regularly through audit and quality checks as per brand and Municipality guidelines

Other activities

  • Monitor stock levels to ensure optimum stock handling within the outlet
  • Order replenishment as required in a timely manner to maintain availability
  • Ensure outlet’s procedures are followed to reduce wastage of food and non-food items
  • Ensure the HACCP related day to day activities are followed including filling of all necessary forms and paperwork
  • Ensure standards of Expiry dates & FIFO are followed as per guidelines
  • Work within operational procedures to ensure food and beverage preparation process remain within Company and Municipality guidelines
  • Ensure health and safety and fire regulations are adhered to within the outlet
  • Have complete and thorough knowledge of how to operate all equipment and machinery, including cleaning and maintenance practices
  • Entering data into time recording system
  • Ensuring that the set goals are being pursued by means of cost control, usage reports, etc.
  • Guaranteeing correct money streams in accordance with the cashier agreement
  • Provide on-the-job training and oversee on-the-job training
  • Takes part of the inventory procedure, alongside of the Assistant Manager
  • Carry out additional tasks as instructed by management
