Main Purpose of the Job

To lead and manage all workshop fabrication activities to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and within cost and time targets. The Workshop Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, manpower utilization, quality assurance, and compliance with company and client requirements. The role also includes driving operational excellence through ERP integration, continuous improvement, and adherence to HSE and QA/QC standards.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

1.       Company Representation:

Represent the company in all workshop-related client meetings, inspections, and audits. Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors.

2.       Workshop Operations Planning:

Develop and implement fabrication execution plans aligned with project requirements, integrating with Quality, Planning, and Procurement departments.

3.       Contract & Technical Review:

Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications. Ensure project scope and changes are correctly interpreted and executed.

4.       Project Scheduling & Progress Control:

Review fabrication schedules, identify potential delays, and implement recovery plans to meet project deadlines.

5.       Resource & Manpower Management:

Plan and control workshop manpower, machinery, and material resources to ensure optimal utilization and productivity.

6.       ERP & Digital Integration:

Ensure accurate data entry of workshop production, job cards, and material usage in the ERP/MRP system (e.g., SAP, Odoo, Dynamics). Monitor fabrication KPIs and generate performance dashboards.

7.       Cost & Financial Control:

Track project fabrication costs, analyze budget variances, and initiate corrective measures. Support cost-saving initiatives and efficient material usage.

8.       Quality Assurance & Compliance:

Oversee compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Ensure proper documentation of WPS/PQR, inspection reports, and NDT records.

9.       HSE Management:

Implement and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring zero Lost Time Incidents (LTI). Conduct regular toolbox talks and ensure compliance with company HSE policies.

10.     Performance Monitoring & Improvement:

Define and monitor KPIs such as productivity per man-hour, rework rate, and OTD (On-Time Delivery). Lead root cause analysis for quality or schedule deviations.

11.     Inventory & Stores Coordination:

Coordinate with the Store and Procurement departments for material availability, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient workflow.

12.     Team Leadership & Development:

Supervise engineers, foremen, and technicians. Conduct performance appraisals, identify training needs, and support technical competency development.

13.     Tender & Technical Support:

Support the Operations Department in tender reviews, fabrication cost estimation, and technical clarifications.

14.     Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain fabrication records, progress reports, and monthly summaries. Ensure full digital traceability of workshop documentation.

15.     Continuous Improvement:

Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, 5S, and workflow optimization within the workshop.

16.     Coordination & Communication:

Conduct weekly coordination meetings with Planning, QA/QC, and Project teams to align workshop progress with project milestones.

Skills

Education, Skills, and Experience


Essential:

·       Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering.

·       Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in fabrication or heavy manufacturing, including 5 years in managerial role.

·       Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.

·       Experience with ERP/MRP systems for production and inventory management.

·       Knowledge of fabrication codes (ASME, AWS) and welding processes.

·       Excellent command of English (verbal and written) and computer literacy (MS Office, ERP tools).


Desirable:

·       Certification in Project Management (PMP) or Lean Manufacturing.

·       Exposure to cost analysis, budgeting, and performance tracking.

·       Experience in Oil & Gas fabrication projects.

·       Knowledge of company policies and client specifications (KOC, KNPC, etc.).
