The Property

Are you an experienced luxury hotel General Manager with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences? Waldorf Astoria Kuwait is seeking a highly motivated and talented Hotel General Manager to lead our team and ensure the smooth operation and success of our property.

With 200 luxurious rooms and suites featuring opulent, contemporary decor and panoramic views of the glittering skyline the Waldorf Astoria Kuwait offers impactful experiences, and curated luxury to inspire travellers throughout their stay. Featuring world-class amenities, purposeful service and guest facilities, the modern, luxury hotel is the Avenues Mall, offering over 1,000 shops, a cinema, and dining. Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium and Kuwait International Airport are within 12 kilometers. The Grand Mosque of Kuwait and the city center are 14 kilometers away. We offer five restaurants, The Waldorf Astoria Spa, an outdoor pool, and our exclusive Ikaros Club.

What will I be doing?

This exciting General Manager position will be responsible for managing and building upon the current success of the hotel, Hotel Management team, hotel targets to deliver an excellent Guest and Team Member experience while managing profitability and meeting our Owners expectations.

Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: 

  • Manage and lead the hotel operation
  • As the first Waldorf Astoria in country, you and your team, will continue to build the reputation and activation of Hilton.
  • Manage ongoing profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue, guest satisfaction and Team Member engagement goals are met and exceeded.
  • Lead in all key property issues including capital projects, customer service, and refurbishment.
  • Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the hotel and Hilton.
  • Deliver achievable hotel budgets, and set other short- and long- term strategic goals for the property.
  • Provide exceptional leadership to hotel Team Members focusing on Hilton culture and values.
  • Lead in all aspects of business planning.
  • Comply with and exceed Hilton Brand Service Standards.
  • Ensure costs are controlled.
  • Manage and develop the Hotel Executive team to ensure career progression and effective succession planning within Hilton.
  • Hold regular briefings and communication meetings with the HOD team.
  • Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills with a strong focus on Owner relations, Operations, F&B, Commercial, Guest experience and Team Member engagement. Enthusiastic and passionate, you will have current experience as a true luxury hotel General Manager within a similar quality hotel. 

A General Manager serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow: 

  • A current and established luxury General Manager with Hilton experience ideally.
  • Deep understanding of GCC Tier 1 market and  multi market experience.
  • Deliver innovative commercial opportunities with experience in increasing profitability, in particular F&B and Catering.
  • Meticulous attention will be crucial.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and foster networks and relationships, with owners, contractors, corporates and local community – must be highly visible.
  • Capability to assume responsibility and confidently lead hotel owners.
  • Strong operational knowledge from a people/leadership perspective - the GM needs to be \"present\" and lead from the front.
  • Deliver innovative commercial opportunities with experience in increasing profitability.
  • Exceptional people leadership and retention of talent with the ability to bring a team together on a journey and instilling the Hilton culture and values.
  • Ability to show resilience, judgement and leadership.
  • Experience managing budgets, revenue proposals, and forecasting results in a similar sized property.
  • In-depth knowledge of the hotel/leisure/service sector.
  • Degree in Hotel Management or equivalent.
  • Arabic language highly preferred.
