Freezer Technician (Ammonia Plant)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance on ammonia refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in the refrigeration systems.
  • Replace defective components and wiring and adjust controls to ensure the efficient operation of the system.
  • Monitor and control the operation of the ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Record and maintain accurate logs of system operations, maintenance activities, and repairs.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and protocols related to the handling and use of ammonia and other hazardous materials.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in safety training and emergency response drills.
  • Provide technical support and training to other maintenance staff and plant operators regarding the refrigeration systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technical personnel to improve system performance and efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, system performance, and repairs.
  • Prepare and submit reports on system performance, maintenance schedules, and safety compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills

Required Educational Qualifications & Work Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in refrigeration, HVAC, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and tolerate various weather conditions.
