Laboratory Technician - Cementing
Location : Kuwait
Job Description / Responsibilities :
1- Conduct chemical and physical analyses of oil and gas samples to determine their properties, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as API and ASTM.
2- Create cement slurry designs tailored to specific oil-well conditions and parameters.
3- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, including microscopes, centrifuges, viscosimeters, and spectrophotometers, to ensure accurate and reliable results.
4- Under supervision develop competency in advanced additive selection and fluid design to provide technical support as required.
5- Perform quality assurance tests on company products and prepare detailed laboratory reports prior to service delivery at the wellsite.
6- Maintain and update the database of slurry tests and designs performed in the lab and utilized in the field.
7- Prepare technical reports / analysis for internal and external customers, outlining test results and recommendations.
8- Conduct regular audits to ensure laboratory operations adhere to required standards and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
9- Ensure that laboratory equipment is clean, well-maintained, and in proper working condition, adhering to housekeeping and spare parts inventory management.
10- Dispose of laboratory waste regularly and in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
11- Perform risk analyses before each task to identify and mitigate potential safety or quality concerns.
12- Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintain required safety training.
13- Maintain effective communication with Client Support Labs, operating locations, and product centers to facilitate seamless service delivery.
14- Assist Design / Technical Engineers and Product Champions with technical support as needed.
15- Participate in Service Quality Meetings with customers, contributing to performance improvements through action plans.
16- Follows direction from Lab Manager in distributing laboratory workloads, including product testing and research activities, to support the operations.
Education / Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
Minimum 6 - 8 years relevant experience in a Laboratory environment.
Certification as a Laboratory Analyst or equivalent is advantageous.
