Role
Operator performs routine, and some non-routine, continuous and repetitive work involved primarily with the operation of a telephone switchboard and the operation and maintenance of a computerized database of telephone information. Internal and external contacts are many and varied. Work requires sound judgment, computer skills and good customer handling skills.
Responsibilities
- Operate telephone business systems equipment or switchboards to relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. May supply information to callers provide appropriate information, directions, answers to inquiries, etc. as needed.
- Performs inputting, updating, maintenance and accuracy checks on a computerized telephone database.
- Route emergency calls appropriately.
- Forwards calls to appropriate departments, ensures that callers reach appropriate people.
- Inform Lead / Supervisor regarding changes in the numbers to update the Master Database.
- Performs simple clerical tasks.
- Place long distance DSN & commercial calls and make a record of it and send reports at the end of the month.
- Responsible to schedule conference for personnel and maintaining the proper records.
- Interact with diversify customers, all over bases & internal departments on 24/7 basis.
- Maintain and update the telephone databases.

- The Operators are responsible to provide a consistent and professional service to the military and civilian communities.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to handle difficult callers.
- Proficient in operating telephone switchboard systems and related software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple calls simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and ability to accurately transfer calls to the appropriate departments.
