Head of Clearing & Retail Loans

Job Purpose

Responsible for all Clearing and Retail Loans processing throughout ABK, all transactions should be error free and securely completed within the agreed SLA and cut off time.


Generic Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Governance and Compliance: Work fully within risk policies and procedures and compliance regulations and ensure all divisional activities comply with corporate governance & regulatory/legal frameworks
  • Policies & Processes: Develop and implement relevant policies and procedures and conduct regular reviews to remain relevant and effective.
  • Risk Management: Work alongside Risk Management in ensuring that the function works fully within the set frameworks, proactively monitor and report on risk exposure in order to enhance control effectiveness.
  • Compliance: Work fully within ABK’s Compliance regulations and standards.
  • People management: Manage, motivate & develop employees and the team in line with ABK people policies & practices.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Cheque Clearing: Ensure that all cheques are validated and in line with all the processing guideline mandated, and within the agreed SLA, ensure adequate follow up on any issue not adhering to the rules and regulations and/or is causing delays.
  • Manual Transactions: Complete Manual Transaction to correct any errors in credited or debited cheque balances.
  • Network: Establish and maintain ABK relationships with internal and external customers as well as other banks.
  • Retail Loans: Gather and process all types of Retail Loans within the agreed SLA including buy in/out from other banks and follow up on any issue not adhering to the rules and regulations and/or is causing delays.
  • Loan Settlement and invoice submission: Process any settlement (full or partial) as well as validate the invoices submitted.
  • Update Loan T&C and Legal Instructions: Process any loan T&C, schedule change and Legal instructions on defaulted customers.
  • Collection write-off, Release and hold instructions: Process collection write-off’s as well as release and hold instructions.
  • Bulk Payments: Process bulk payments for customer prizes, RBD payments& campaigns.
  • Reports: timely completion of all daily and monthly reports including (MOE, Charity, KFH) and other with monthly Statistics.
  • System Management: Co-ordinate the implementation of relevant systems updates/fixes.
  • Customer service Advise customers on ambiguities, provide guidance on transactions and support them in protecting their interests.
  • Procedures and Process: Ensure that policies and procedures are in line with the latest Rules and Regulations as well as any audit or risk finding.
  • SLA and Cut off Times: Ensure that all transaction are completed within the agreed SLA and prior to the agreed cut off time.
  • Reconciliation: Ensure proper daily Reconciliation activities are completed within the approved timeframe and that corrective actions are taken when and if needed.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related field or equivalent.


Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of operations and trade finance.
  • Knowledge of banking systems.
  • Working knowledge of risk/AML tools and methodologies.
  • Particular knowledge of processing and transactions in areas such as corporate operations, central services etc.


Experience & Skills:

  • 7 years’ experience in Banking.
  • Successful people & cost management.
  • Accuracy of reports.
  • Effectives checks, processes etc.
  • Quality of training of staff.
  • Maintaining effective databases and carrying out of reconciliations.
  • Adherence to Policies & Procedures.
  • Adherence to internal verification processes.
  • Successful relationships with (internal & external) customers.
