International Credit Risk Officer

Skills:

  • Strong Communication (Oral and Written) and interpersonal skills, capacity to interact in a multicultural, cross-border environment.
  • Strong financial / XL modeling / Analytical and reporting skills / capabilities.
  • Basic knowledge of current banking laws and regulations required loan documentation and bank lending principles.
  • Familiarity with credit-enhancing mechanisms, risk mitigation and treatment of collateral regarding credit exposure.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the economies where NBK has international footprint will be considered as an advantage.
  • Understanding of standard financing transactions and instruments such as bilateral/syndicated lending, trade finance, structured finance etc.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/MBA in any business field / international business preferably focused on lending, project finance contract finance and similar.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum 4 - 7 years of experience in Credit Risk / Corporate Banking or similar environment in financial institutions of which preferably at least 2 years in similar capacity


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Performs detailed analysis of different counterparties such as corporates, project finance entities, financial institutions and sovereign obligors in the process of re-underwriting appropriate credit facilities and minimizing risk to the Group. (Analysis includes feasibility studies, financial statements, external rating reports, peer analysis, market intelligence etc.).
    • Uses modeling tools and own market intelligence to make sensible forecasts and sensitivity analysis of company finances, submits relevant feedback to the unit Head and the competent International Credit Committees.
    • Attends as required customer presentations to better ascertain the credit profile of the obligor.
    • Reviews the proposed credit risk ratings based on the country, sector, market and counterparty financial analysis provided in the credit proposal.
    • Monitors and recommend changes of counterparty credit ratings by using Credit Lens and other risk rating models.
    • Periodically monitors the performance of obligors with existing credit facilities to ensure these remain appropriate for regular and adequate utilization and settlement.
    • Makes appropriate and sound recommendations on credit proposals to obtain requisite approvals.
    • Regularly monitors market conditions, emerging risk trends or changes in customer financials to identify problems and promptly alert ICRM.
    • Contributes to the implementation of appropriate systems, procedures and guidelines in line with the best banking practices and the Credit Policy Manual.
    • Contributes to compiling information and performance statistics about the existing portfolio.
    • Undertakes other tasks as requested by the Head of ICRM / Bank Management.
