About the Role
The Insurance Underwriter / Risk Assessor is responsible for evaluating and underwriting industrial and property risks, ensuring that risks are accurately assessed and policy terms are appropriately defined. This role involves conducting pre-risk inspections, analyzing proposals, preparing quotations, and reviewing policy content. The position also requires effective negotiation with reinsurers and brokers, market engagement, and liaising with claims managers for special investigations.
Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or Accounting, with additional insurance qualifications from a recognized institute.
- 5-7 years of experience in insurance underwriting or a similar field.
- Experience in pre-risk inspections and industrial risks assessments to ensure accurate underwriting.
- Ability to evaluate and calculate Probable Maximum Loss (PML) in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
- Ability to prepare and review quotations, policy documents, and risk proposals.
- Experience in liaise with claims managers on complex claims and manage special investigations.
- The capability to negotiate with reinsurers and brokers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Bilingual in English and Arabic (reading, writing, and speaking).
