We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Planning Manager to lead and oversee the planning and scheduling of construction projects. The ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge in project planning tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project and possess a deep understanding of the construction engineering domain. As the Project Planning Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are meticulously planned, scheduled, and executed within time, cost, and quality parameters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the project planning team, including a minimum of 5 planning engineers.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that project plans are feasible and optimized for resource allocation.
- Evaluate structural and construction drawings for alignment with project schedules and identify any risks or discrepancies.
- Conduct cost engineering assessments and prepare bids and tender submissions for construction projects.
- Review and interpret Bill of Quantities (BoQs) for both structural and finishing materials, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of project material requirements.
- Oversee the integration of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) works into the overall project schedule, ensuring coordination with civil and structural works.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Facilitate effective communication among stakeholders, including clients, contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Lead the preparation of progress reports, cash flow forecasts, and resource histograms for client updates and internal review.
- Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to manage project delays, resource challenges, or unforeseen site conditions.
- Monitor project performance metrics, identify potential bottlenecks, and initiate corrective actions where necessary to maintain schedule adherence.
Skills
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (minimum requirement); Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction planning and project controls within the construction industry, with specific expertise in civil and structural engineering.
- Proven experience working on large-scale projects involving MEP works, including coordinating with MEP contractors.
- Proficient in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project for planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Strong experience in Bill of Quantities (BoQ) preparation for both structural and finishing materials.
- Thorough understanding of cost engineering principles and experience in the preparation of bids and tenders for construction projects.
- Proven leadership experience, having led a team of at least 5 planning engineers in the successful delivery of complex construction projects.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and interpret structural and construction drawings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, project teams, and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and risk management techniques.
- Familiarity with construction contracts such as FIDIC or NEC is a plus.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is advantageous.
