The Radar Resident Maintenance Engineer will plan, report & perform maintenance and coordinate all activities related the Radar, as well as be able to operate the range equipment. The Radar Resident Maintenance Engineer will also be responsible for safety and effective Radar operations.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in Radar maintenance, installations and disassemble Radar
parts and will understand procedures associated with Radar operations. They will also have a basic
understanding of other systems related to airport operations such as Low-Level Windshear Alert
System (LLWAS), and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B). A direct experience in
weather doppler Radar will be an advantage. The candidate must be able to plan and execute
maintenance procedure following manufacture guidelines and in accordance to international airport regulations and use test equipment’s needed to perform the maintenance. They must also be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible. Radar Resident Maintenance Engineer will work as directed by the Project Manager and the operations Manager. The job will require regular movement to the Radar site and KCMC building. There could be occasional international travel for training and operational purposes. The Radar Resident Maintenance Engineer must be proficient in English and be able to produce written work in English.
Tasks and responsibilities
a) To assist DGCA staff performing any urgent or routine maintenance which shall be required upon the system hardware or software.
b) To prepare all necessary maintenance schedules.
c) To support and administer the day-to-day routine maintenance of the DWR system which will be
executed by DGCA staff.
d) To carry out all technical, operational and administrative (on the job training) required.
e) To provide professional advice to DGCA on all aspects of the DWR system.
f) To install all software updates/upgrades that are performed during the maintenance support period and to perform training measures for DGCA personnel if any are required due to those
updates/upgrades of system and application software packages.
g) To provide regular (monthly) written reports of the system performance and of all maintenance
support and training activities to his direct manager.
h) The level of maintenance which the DGCA expects to be sustained shall be level 2, which is
defined as identification and replacement of faulty units, sub-units or assemblies, together with the
understanding of the reasons for replacement.
i) Maintenance of subassemblies such as radar transmitter, analogue and digital receiver, antenna
mechanics and their control
j) Independent execution of measurements, repairs and calibrations on complex analogue and
digital devices
k) Build positive working relationships with customers and ensure customer satisfaction.
l) Understand Customer's technical issues.
Requirements:
1. Completed degree in electrical engineering Bachelor of Science and preferably an
apprenticeship as electronics technician for equipment and systems or a comparable
qualification in the field of communications and communication technology.
2. Minimum of 5 years work experience in the field of Radar engineering and maintenance.
3. Professional experience in the field of electrical engineering, communications, or
communication technology
4. Acknowledgment on METEOR S-Band, X-Band, C-Band Radars
5. Experience in METEOR 600/700 Weather Radar Systems
6. Preferred Experience in Selex Radars Systems
7. Knowledge in analogue and digital circuit technology as well as in network, message,
analogue and high frequency technology
8. Good knowledge of instrumentation such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, high frequency
generator and high frequency power meters

Working Hours:
Sunday – Thursday 0700 to 1500
