Roles & Responsibilities
Site Safety and Health Officer will operate under the general direction TF SAFE Project Manager. The TF SAFE Site Safety Officer will work to ensure that operations, engineering, and electrical inspection/repair activities are conducted in compliance with applicable Federal, Industry and Client safety regulations. Tasks will include:
- Implement and manage a program safety plan in accordance with EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual and the TF SAFE Accident Prevention Plan.
- Positively interface between the Client and the Contractor s project teams and resources.
- Implement accident and loss prevention programs.
- Conduct regular safety audits of sites to prevent incidents
- Conduct daily safety meetings with on-site personnel (toolbox talks).
- Develop plans, procedures and programs to meet the specific safety needs of Versar.
- Maintain records of training activities and employee programs, monitoring their effectiveness.
- Maintain records and reporting systems on lost time accidents and property losses.
- Identify loss producing conditions and practices, recommending appropriate corrective action.
- Develop training manuals and training aids for internal use and be able to train employees on fundamentals of the Accident Prevention Program.
- Assist in the creation of Activity Hazard Analysis.
- Support and comply with all components of Accident Prevention Program.
- Investigate and keep record of all incidents, injuries, near misses, etc. and submit proper documentation to the TF SAFE PM.
Experience:
The Site Safety and Health Officer shall have no less than five years of experience managing similar safety programs with 20+ personnel under USACE programs in accordance with EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual.
- SSHO will be qualified IAW EM 385-1-1, Section 1-3
- Completed the 30-hour OSHA General Industry or construction safety training and
- Completed 24 hours of documented safety training every 3 years
or
- As an equivalent, formal construction or industry safety and health training covering the subjects of the OSHA 30-hour course and the EM 385-1-1 such as the EM 385-1, 40-hour course
- Candidate must have exceptional computer skills in common business software including email, spreadsheets and documents (MS-Outlook, MS-Excel, MS-Project, and MS-Word or equivalent).
- International experience and CENTCOM specific experience is preferred.
