Rolls & Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety inspections and site walkthroughs to identify unsafe acts or conditions.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and job hazard analyses.
- Ensure that PPE, safety signage, and safety equipment are properly used and maintained.
- Verify that emergency exits, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and safety stations are in place and functional.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inductions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Raise awareness of safety rules, hazard recognition, and accident prevention among site personnel.
- Participate in incident investigations, collecting facts and evidence.
- Support preparation of corrective and preventive action plans following incidents.
- Verify hot work permits, excavation permits, and other work permits before commencement of high-risk tasks.
- Ensure that all contractors comply with site-specific HSE requirements.
- Monitor compliance with local, national, and project-specific safety regulations.
- Assist in conducting Job Safety Analysis (JSA), risk assessments, and hazard identification activities.
- Identify unsafe conditions and recommend immediate corrective actions.
- Ensure emergency response plans and drills are conducted regularly.
- Check that firefighting, medical, and rescue equipment is readily available.
- Maintain daily safety reports, inspection checklists, and safety observation cards.
- Practical knowledge of site safety management, construction hazards, and industrial safety regulations.
- Understanding of EPC project operations, including lifting, scaffolding, electrical work, and hot work.
Skills
Qualification / criteria -
1 – Bachelor Degree in Science or Diploma in Engineering from a recognized and reputed university with minimum 5 years’ experience as HSE personnel in the relevant field.
OR
Successfully passed High School with a NEBOSH Certification from a recognized and reputable Institute with minimum 10 years’ experience, including 7 years as HSE personnel in the relevant field.
2 – Must have successfully completed one or more certified HSE course(s) in any category of training in General Industrial Safety, Construction Safety, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 lead Auditor, NEBOSH, ASSP Certificate in Global Safety Management or equivalent courses.
3 – Safety officer must have successfully completed First Aider Certification
