Roles & Responsibilities
Perform overhaul, maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 500 0hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and repair alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles.
Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS).
Operate a Load bank and dynometer during testing
Fabricate wire harnesses and solder terminals.
Some work will be in a generator shop environment, and some work will be in a field environment.
Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your Generator and HVAC expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Generator and HVAC Mechanic must have:
Education: High School diploma
Experience: BA/BS plus 2 years experience, AA/AS/plus 4 years experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years experience
Technical skills: Extensive diesel engine rebuild and generator experience. Knowledge of generator parallel systems and switch gear. Experience with brazing copper tubing and evacuating and recharging refrigerant.

You ll play a crucial role in providing on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyzing complex technical problems, and providing training to site operations and maintenance personnel.
