Position Summary:
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing and managing detailed project plans and schedules in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have 5-12 years of planning experience within the construction industry and possess strong expertise in resource allocation, schedule management, critical path analysis, and risk assessment, along with effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning:
- Establish project timelines, milestones, and identify critical paths for successful project execution.
2. Resource Allocation:
- Collaborate with project teams to efficiently allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
3. Schedule Management:
- Regularly monitor and update project schedules to reflect progress and any changes.
- Manage letters, claims and time extensions.
- Conduct on-site inspections to ensure project advancement aligns with the established timeline.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to develop and implement bi-weekly site lookahead work plans.
4. Critical Path Analysis:
- Identify critical paths and potential bottlenecks in project schedules.
- Develop strategies to mitigate delays and optimize project timelines.
5. Risk Assessment:
- Conduct risk assessments related to project schedules.
6. Collaboration with Project Teams:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide scheduling expertise.
- Attend consultant meetings.
7. Reporting:
- Generate monthly project progress report and E1 E2 logs.
- Highlight key milestones, potential risks, and deviations from the project schedule.
8. Resource Planning:
- Collaborate with procurement and the Project Manager to ensure timely availability of resources.
- Anticipate and address resource constraints that could impact project schedules.
9. Software Utilization:
- Utilize Primavera P6 to create, update, and analyze schedules.
Skills
- 5-12 years of planning experience within the construction industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Strong experience in Primavera P6.
- Proven experience in project planning and scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and software.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
