Reports to: Director-Counseling Center

Scope And Purpose

Counseling Center Coordinator responsibilities include the associated administrative and planning activities, some of which require general knowledge and skills, such as budget, inventory management, record management, organizational skills, and relationship building and communication skills. Also responsible for managing the daily activities of the Art and Music Therapy room, and the department’s Student Employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and help students who request accommodations or psychological support by explaining the services offered by the Counseling Center.
  • Carry out the first interview with the new student in order to assess their needs, on the basis of some questionnaires and a structured interview.
  • Redirect the student to the right counselor according to their needs (disability vs mental health problems)
  • Accept, filter and route incoming phone calls and emails to the Counseling Center.
  • Develop and maintain department reports that analyze various activities involved with student services.
  • Communicate and organize various sections and activities of the Clinic and the Art and Music Therapy Rooms.
  • Coordinates schedules and daily operations with the Director of the Counseling Center.
  • Creates and modifies documents such as invoices, reports, memos, letters and financial statements using word processing, spreadsheet and database.
  • Collaborates closely and regularly with members of the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, including but not limited to Orientation, Awards Night, and Graduation.
  • Collects and maintains inventory of Department supplies and reconciles purchase orders.
  • Plans and Supports staff in assigned project‐based work and department events.
  • Manages Student Employees in the Counseling Center, inclusive of the selection process and time-sheet maintenance.
  • Follows up with student employees on daily job duties and scheduling.
  • Organizes regular events within the Department as well as mental health and disability awareness campaigns.
  • Monitors, reconciles, and assists with fiscal administration, including but not limited to office budget, student labor, and/or purchasing.
  • Serve on University committees and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • One to two years of related experience. Related experience includes positions in a college counseling center, or a closely related function.
  • Experience working with college students in addressing personal problems, interpersonal relationships, family and social issues.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social and behavioral science, psychoeducation, social work, health management or related field.
