Data Analyst

Data analyst will be an authority of the data sets(s) he is responsible for – understands how the data is created, maintained, and stored. Data Analyst also understands the trends in the patterns of those data sets and keeps track of the quality of those data sets.


Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:


  • Gather, understand and document detailed business requirements using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Understands the processes that create and maintain the data
  • Identify areas of weakness in the processes and establishes controls
  • Liaise with internal and external clients to fully understand data content
  • Identify, evaluate and implement external services and tools to support data validation and cleansing
  • Monitor and audit data quality
  • Manipulate, analyze and interpret complex data sets
  • Prepare reports for internal and external audiences using business analytics reporting tools
  • Create data dashboards, graphs and visualizations
  • Provide sector and competitor benchmarking
  • Mine and analyze large datasets, draw valid inferences and present them successfully to management using a reporting tool.


Required Skills:


  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools - you don't need to know all of them at entry level but you should show advanced skills in Excel and the use of at least one relational database
  • Knowledge of data modelling, data cleansing, and data enrichment techniques
  • The capacity to develop and document procedures and workflows
  • The ability to carry out data quality control, validation and linkage
  • An understanding of data protection issues
  • Experience of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques
  • The ability to produce clear graphical representations and data visualizations.

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate – preferably in business information systems, information management or computer science
  • Certification in querying/scripting language/ business intelligence and analytics platforms
