Reports to: Facilities Manager

Job Purpose:

The Housekeeping Supervisor at AIU will oversee the daily housekeeping operations within the university's facilities to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves supervising housekeeping staff, coordinating cleaning schedules, monitoring performance, and ensuring that the department meets the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage housekeeping staff, including assigning daily tasks, scheduling shifts, and monitoring performance.
  • Conduct training and onboarding for new housekeeping staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
  • Ensure adherence to university standards and protocols for cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules to cover all university facilities, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, outdoor and common areas.
  • Conduct regular inspections of campus facilities to ensure cleaning standards are met and report any deficiencies or required maintenance to your supervisor.
  • Monitor and ensure the proper use and storage of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies and government regulations regarding health and safety in the workplace.
  • Implement and enforce safety measures, including the proper handling of hazardous materials and adherence to cleaning safety procedures.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies such as spills or cleaning needs in critical areas and work with other departments to address safety concerns.
  • Manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, ordering new stock as needed and ensuring cost-effective usage.
  • Track and report on housekeeping expenses to ensure operations stay within the allocated budget.
  • Serve as the point of contact between the housekeeping team and other university departments for cleaning needs and facility concerns.
  • Liaise with event organizers and campus administration to coordinate special cleaning tasks for campus events, conferences, or maintenance periods.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to housekeeping staff, addressing any performance issues with them and informing the contractor as needed.
  • Physical stamina required, including the ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to housekeeping and cleaning.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
