Accountabilities and Key Roles:
ESG Risk Identification and Assessment:
- Develop and implement frameworks for identifying, assessing, and monitoring ESG risks.
- Conduct comprehensive ESG risk assessments for new and existing clients, projects, and products.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure ESG risks are considered in decision-making processes.
Policy and Strategy Development
- Lead development and implementation of ESG risk management policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the formulation of the bank’s overall ESG strategy and objectives.
- Ensure alignment of ESG risk management practices with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Reporting and Monitoring
- Prepare regular ESG risk reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze trends and developments in ESG risks to address potential issues.
- Maintain and enhance ESG risk monitoring tools and systems.
Regulatory Development and Compliance:
- Oversee ESG regulatory developments and ensure compliance across the bank’s international presence.
- Stay updated on global ESG regulations and standards, ensuring the bank’s policies and practices are compliant.
- Coordinate with international branches and subsidiaries to implement and monitor ESG compliance efforts.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to promote ESG risk awareness and best practices.
- Engage with clients, investors, and regulators on ESG risk-related matters.
Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance ESG risk awareness and capabilities across the organization.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Risk Management, or a related field or a related field from a recognized university.
- Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM, PRM, or GARP) is a plus.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in Risk Management ESG analysis and climate risk management in a financial services context
Competencies:
- Strong understanding of ESG principles, frameworks (e.g., SASB, GRI, TCFD), and regulatory requirements
- Good understanding of ESG and climate risk in banking risk management context
- Proven ability to think strategically and to manage the execution of “organization-wide” programs and initiatives
- Ability to independently drive initiatives with minimum hands-on supervision
- Ability to work with lots of moving parts and complexity.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly skilled in creation of briefing materials, report writing and preparation of presentations.
