Primary Objective:The Lead EOD / UXO Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all UXO and landmine survey, detection, and clearance activities conducted by field contractors meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. The role provides technical leadership, quality assurance oversight, and continuous improvement in alignment with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and organizational requirements.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Conduct quality assurance monitoring of UXO and landmine clearance activities in accordance with IMAS and company standards.
Perform and document quality control inspections and surveillance audits across all UXO operations.
Implement and manage non conformance reporting, corrective actions, and verification processes.
Apply inspection methodologies, including sampling techniques, to verify compliance with contract specifications.
Establish and oversee phased control systems (preparatory, initial, and follow up) to ensure contractor readiness prior to commencing each work phase.
Conduct trend analysis and root cause analysis to drive continuous quality improvement.
Technical Oversight
Provide technical oversight and evaluation of contractor performance in UXO surveys, geophysical investigations, and clearance operations.
Ensure corrective actions are properly documented, tracked, verified, and closed.
Support the implementation of safe and compliant systems for UXO identification, recovery, and disposal.
Provide expert technical guidance on UXO detection technologies and methodologies across varying soil and environmental conditions.
Contract Development & Project Support
Support the development of UXO management strategies and contract specifications aligned with project and environmental requirements
Provide technical input into scopes of work, procedures, and contractor deliverables.
Liaise with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure UXO risks are effectively managed.
Experience in oil and gas operating environments is highly desirable.
Qualifications & Experience:
Mandatory Requirements
IMAS Level III+ certification or equivalent (e.g., military EOD qualification, DDESB-recognized institution).
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the UXO/EOD sector.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong knowledge of UXO safety, quality, and health & safety management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
University degree in a relevant field.
Practical experience in UXO geophysical surveys and clearance operations.
Experience working in the Middle East or North Africa (MENA) region.
Prior experience supporting oil & gas or infrastructure projects.
