Commis II – American Cuisine

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Commis II – American Cuisine to support daily kitchen operations within a professional four- or five-star hotel environment. This role is ideal for a culinary professional with a solid foundation in American cuisine who is eager to grow, maintain consistency, and deliver quality in a high-standard kitchen.


A professional overview of your role:
As Commis II – American Cuisine, you will assist senior chefs in preparing and presenting dishes that reflect authentic American flavors while adhering to brand standards, hygiene requirements, and operational efficiency.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of American cuisine dishes according to approved recipes and standards.
  • Supporting mise en place and ensuring readiness for service across assigned kitchen sections.
  • Following portion control, food preparation techniques, and presentation guidelines consistently.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
  • Assisting in proper food storage, labeling, and stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Supporting senior chefs during service to ensure smooth and timely food delivery.
  • Learning and applying cooking techniques specific to American cuisine, including grills, burgers, steaks, and classic accompaniments.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned by the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.

What we are looking for:


  • Previous experience as a Commis II or Commis Chef, preferably with exposure to American cuisine.
  • Basic culinary skills with a good understanding of kitchen operations and service flow.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and kitchen discipline.
  • Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Good communication skills in English; Arabic language will be an advantage.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Culinary or hospitality qualifications will be an advantage.
