Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of power engineers and technicians.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
2. Power Systems Design and Maintenance:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems, including UPS, generators, switchgear, and power distribution units (PDUs).
- Ensure redundancy and resilience in power systems to minimize downtime.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
3. Operations and Monitoring:
- Monitor real-time power usage and capacity.
- Identify and address potential power issues or inefficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for uptime and performance.
4. Project Management:
- Lead power infrastructure upgrade projects, including budgeting, planning, and execution.
- Collaborate with other teams, such as cooling and IT, for integrated systems performance.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
5. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to local electrical codes, standards (e.g., NFPA, IEEE), and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for the team.
- Maintain detailed documentation of power systems and updates.
6. Reporting and Communication:
- Provide regular updates to senior management on power system performance and reliability.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and root cause analyses in case of power disruptions.
- Recommend strategic improvements to meet future power demands.
Skills
Qualifications:
- Education:
Ø Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Experience:
Ø 5+ years of experience in data center power systems or a related industry.
Ø Proven leadership experience, preferably managing a technical team.
- Skills:
Ø In-depth knowledge of power systems, electrical infrastructure, and energy efficiency.
Ø Proficiency in power system modeling and monitoring tools.
Ø Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ø Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications (Preferred):
Ø Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Ø Data center-related certifications
Work Environment:
Ø Primarily based in a data center environment with occasional office work.
Ø Requires availability for on-call support during emergencies or critical incidents.
Ø May involve travel to multiple data center locations.
