Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Equipment Inspector to join our team in a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, compliance, and proper functioning of all lifting equipment with our client. You will carry out routine inspections, identify potential hazards, and ensure that all equipment meets relevant safety standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of equipment (e.g., cranes, hoists, forklifts, lifting slings, shackles) to ensure compliance with local and international safety standards.
- Identify signs of wear, defects, or damage and recommend corrective actions, repairs, or replacements.
- Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports, documenting findings and recommendations.
- Ensure that all lifting equipment is maintained and operated according to manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Perform load testing and ensure all safety features are functioning correctly.
- Maintain records of inspections, maintenance, and certifications.
- Advise the management team on potential risks and safety improvements.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including Health and Safety regulations, and industry standards (e.g., LOLER, EN, ISO).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Additional certifications in lifting equipment inspection or related fields (e.g., LOLER, IPAF, CPCS, etc.) are highly preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of [3] years of experience in the inspection and maintenance of lifting equipment.
- Previous experience in a similar role in industries such as construction, manufacturing, or warehousing is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of lifting equipment standards and safety regulations (e.g., LOLER, CE, OSHA, ANSI, etc.).
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of lifting equipment operation, safety standards, and regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to perform both visual inspections and load testing.
- Proficient in using inspection tools and safety equipment.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to report findings and recommendations clearly.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety risks.
- Certifications (desired but not essential):
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Lifting Operations or Mechanical Engineering.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Comfortable with the manual handling of inspection tools and equipment.
