The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the Oracle database environment for our IT services company in Kuwait. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about database management and are eager to contribute to the efficiency and reliability of our data systems. The DBA will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the Oracle databases, supporting various applications and services. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and problem-solving skills to address database-related issues effectively.

Responsibilities:

  1. Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software and related products.
  2. Monitor database performance and optimize queries to ensure high availability and responsiveness.
  3. Implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and availability.
  4. Manage user access and security protocols to protect sensitive information.
  5. Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
  6. Conduct regular maintenance tasks, including patching and performance tuning.
  7. Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet application requirements.
  8. Document database configurations, procedures, and changes for future reference.
  9. Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity.
  10. Stay updated with the latest Oracle technologies and best practices to enhance database management.

Skills

  • University degree with specialized courses in IT.
  • 12+ years of professional experience in the IT field.
  • 8+ years of specialized experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
  • Oracle Certified DBA (OCP) in Oracle Database Administration.
  • Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC).
  • Experience in Oracle Database Administration on Linux/Unix.
  • Expertise in Performance Tuning and Backup/Restore using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
  • Proficiency in managing Database Security and User Privileges.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Virtualization Environment deployment and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with SQL and PL/SQL for database scripting.
  • Understanding of database security measures and user access controls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues efficiently.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and other monitoring tools.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts related to database connectivity.
