Head of Corporate (Kuwaitization)

The Head of Corporate for Doha Bank’s Kuwait Branch will oversee the delivery of an exceptional client experience and promote corporate banking products and services within Kuwait to drive business growth. This role will require the formulation and execution of market-specific business strategies, in close coordination with the Chief Country Manager (CCM) and/or Chief Wholesale Banking Officer (CWBO), based on local market conditions. The incumbent will supervise the Corporate team, ensuring compliance with operational controls, applicable regulations, and the achievement of key business targets.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with the CCM to develop and implement strategic business growth plans for the Kuwait Branch.
  • Lead the development of corporate marketing and business enhancement strategies to increase business volume, client base, and revenue, in coordination with the CCM and CWBO.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, economic changes, and regulatory updates from the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and other authorities; ensure that relevant updates are implemented at the branch level in consultation with the CCM.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support operational, functional, and strategic goals.
  • Actively support the implementation of Doha Bank’s overall business objectives.
  • Represent Doha Bank in key external and internal meetings, conferences, and events to maximize business opportunities.
  • Assist senior management in the creation of policies and procedures for the Corporate Banking division, aligning with the Bank’s credit policies and CBK guidelines.
  • Review and authorize Corporate credit applications submitted by the Relationship team before forwarding them to the Risk Management department.
  • Oversee the management of corporate loan portfolios, adhering to parameters set by the Risk Management Committee.
  • Identify potential opportunities for corporate and commercial products and services to serve qualified customers.
  • Contribute to the development of new corporate banking products that align with regulatory standards, aiming to increase market share, revenues, and profitability.
  • Regularly monitor portfolio gaps and work on strategies to maintain the quality of the corporate portfolio.
  • Track business performance, including customer retention metrics, and implement strategies to mitigate attrition.
  • Develop and execute early warning systems to identify potential risks in the corporate portfolio, allowing for timely corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the CCM, CWBO, and branch business teams to identify new opportunities in Corporate, Commercial, Structured Trade, Commodity Finance, and Payments for eligible customers.
  • Lead the competitive analysis and benchmarking process to enhance the Bank’s position within the corporate banking sector.
  • Assist in the formulation of annual business forecasts, including revenue targets, marketing plans, and operational budgets.


Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Banking, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
  • 13-18 years of experience in the financial services or banking industry, with a focus on Corporate/SME banking at a management level.
  • Strong understanding of the regional and global banking landscape.
  • Expertise in structuring and financing solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial statements, cash flows, assets, liabilities, and working capital requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate banking products and the ability to identify client banking requirements.
  • Experience in negotiating terms with international banks for Forex, Trade, and Remittance transactions.
  • In-depth knowledge of CBK guidelines and regulations.
