Project Manager

Overview

Create Client delivery excellence across assigned project/portfolio, provide certainty and confidence to the client/project sponsor, with robust control of project scope, schedule, cost, risk, including responsibility for safe delivery and ensuring that quality standards are achieved. Specifies and coordinates the implementation and completion of a major project. Responsible for delivery of the project to agreed specifications, for managing change and Client relationships, and ensuring appropriate reporting and governance is adhered to and controlled.


Key Responsibilities

  • Construction Project Management.
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating all project activities, from initiation to implementation. This includes project kick-off, requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, production implementation, post-implementation review, status reporting, budget tracking, and capturing lessons learned.
  • Assume primary responsibility for client communication from a project delivery perspective.
  • Coordinate with the Client, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Responsible for delivery of the project to agreed specifications, for managing change and Client relationships, and ensuring appropriate reporting and governance is adhered to and controlled.
  • Responsible for the on-site management of all aspects of the construction process, ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Resolve any issues/ delays that arise during the construction process promptly and effectively.
  • Prepare, implement and defend against claims resulting from changes to the contract with respect to Clients, stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Analize and identify any deviations from the contract.
  • Ensure timely commissioning, hand-over and documentation.
  • Contributes to and reviews the project proposal and plan to determine time frame, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
  • Establishes project procedures and leads production of project execution plan including the scope of work, deliverables list, master schedule, budget, org charts, and risk register.
  • Regularly reports project progress to senior management and the Client.
  • Responsible for delivery of agreed schedule and financial performance, proactively intervening to avoid slippage. This includes responsibility for safe delivery, ensuring that quality, schedule, and cost targets are met and for managing the associated risk.


Team Leadership

  • Lead a diverse team of construction professionals, including technical site managers, supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Foster a collaborative, cohesive and productive work environment.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring they have the resources and information needed to perform their duties effectively.
  • Coaches, mentors and empowers others to make decisions within established parameters.


Quality Assurance

  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of construction.
  • Monitor the NCR (Non-Conformity Reports) process and ensure closing out of any open issues.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify the quality of work and compliance with project specifications.
  • Address any quality issues promptly and ensure corrective actions are taken.


Budget and Cost Management

  • Develop, together with the commercial team, comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project expenditures and ensure they align with the approved budget.
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality and safety.


Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including clients, local authorities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and milestones.
  • Organize and lead project meetings to ensure all stakeholders are informed and engaged.


Risk Management

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize on-site accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure contingency plans are in place for unforeseen events or emergencies.
  • Leads ongoing focus on risk identification and mitigation during project execution.


HSSE

  • Responsible for the project HSSE leadership, ensures a program of initiatives and auditing schedule are established and that HSSE and quality management issues are proactively addressed.


Documentation

  • Maintain project documentation, including project plans, timelines, status reports, and issue/risk logs.


Educational Requirements

  • Engineering degree in any discipline
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on large-scale projects with cost and budget responsibility.
  • Professional certification (e.g. PMP, PE, CCM) is preferred.
  • Interface with key stakeholders on projects to obtain, create and maintain requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Good knowledge and experience in project monitoring and forecasting.
  • Awareness, respect and the ability to reconcile cultural diversity.
  • Responsible for handover and close-out activities required for customer, company and suppliers.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to different cultural norms and practices.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Significant persuasion and influencing skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, planning and organizing ability, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, leadership qualities and efficient team management skills, adaptability and stress tolerance.
