Instrumentation Design Engineer (Oil & Gas)

a) Accountabilities:

  • Design and develop instrumentation systems for Oil & Gas projects, including control systems, sensors, and automation equipment.
  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including instrumentation schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SmartPlant).
  • Select appropriate instruments, materials, and components to meet specific project needs and environmental conditions.
  • Ensure that all instrumentation designs comply with industry standards, such as ISA, IEC, and relevant safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and process engineering teams to ensure integrated and efficient system designs.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess instrumentation requirements, installation conditions, and system upgrades.
  • Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation systems to ensure they meet design specifications.
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance support for installed instrumentation systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies to ensure safe and effective operation.

b) Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Engineering/ Technology (B.Sc. Engg. / B. Tech. / B.E. / B.S.) or Higher Degree.
  • Specialized experience and high skill in Oil & Gas, Surface Facilities, onshore facilities, cross-country pipelines, etc. as applicable to the discipline.

Skills

  • Experience in upstream, midstream, or downstream Oil & Gas operations.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classification and instrumentation for explosive environments.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
