Responsible for making or improving different types of tools to enable the production processes within a manufacturing facility to be as efficient as possible. Including maintenance, development and testing activities to ensure the business objectives are met, to maximize productivity and maintain the highest levels of workmanship for all tooling activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Planning, executing, monitoring & controlling the daily Tool shop operation to make sure smooth timely availability of required tools in feeders shops and develop full blue prints for the dies & tools.
2. Responsible for delivering Die molds tooling for the product development program by working with tool shop & R&D.
3. Prepare die preventive maintenance schedule of tools & dies in consultation with the production department & carrying out the maintenance accordingly.
4. Coordinating with maintenance department for the repair of all defective tools which are returned form production operation, Up keeping of tool room machineries & coordinating to maintenance department for preventive & breakdown maintenance.
5. Maintaining the stock of required tools & arranging newly required tools for production operation.
6. Providing all the required tools to the various departments of production in time.
7. Responsible to meet tooling development milestone, and identifying the needs, finalizing and requesting the additional machineries to enhance the tool room capabilities.
8. To work with CAD program to ensure part designs are tooling feasible, and utilize design tools such as Dimensional Tolerance, to develop efficient tool designs.
9. Resolve/mitigate tooling issues (Technical, Timing, Cost), and develop Manufacturing and Tooling Statements of work & Standards.
10. Forecasting future tooling costs.
11. Assist buyers, engineers, tooling experts review supplier quotations versus targets.
12. Ensure corporate business plans are considered while modeling tooling costs reviewing supplier quotes.
13. Perform toward enhancing entire part quality to reduce scrap as well as rework.
14. Maintain the house keeping (5S) of the Tool shop floor which includes proper storage of WIP material in demarcated area , there should be place for everything & everything should be in its place , No unwanted items/material should be lying , There should be identification of each process & material being processed , Rejected items should be stored in rejected area with proper tag.
15. Define the departmental objectives in PQCDSM term , set the target for the year , monitor the actuals every month & achieve the target at the end of the year.(P-Production/productivity , Q – Quality , C – Cost , D – Delivery , S – Safety & M – Morale).
16. Perform other duties in any factory shops as assigned by the Production Manager.
Skills
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE LEVEL
- Bachelor’s Degree in Tool & die engineering or mechnical engineering field.
- Engineer having 2-3 years of experience in die making & or tool room.
- Previous experience of people-management and demonstrated ability in people motivation, organizing and team building would be a distinct advantage.

- Knowledge in dealing with different types of hazards (machines: heavy parts, sharps components, electrical hazards).
