Function

The primary objective of this role is to assist and contribute to the research activities within the Population Health department. The ultimate goal is to improve the health and well-being of individuals living with or at high risk of developing diabetes in Kuwait.

Responsibilities

  • Research Formulation: Identify, formulate, and implement epidemiological and public health research studies focused on diabetes within the Kuwaiti population.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Plan, collect, and analyze data related to diabetes epidemiology, and report conclusions through various mediums such as manuscripts, publications, abstracts, and posters.
  • Project Support: Support and provide guidance on both new and ongoing research projects, aligning them with the key areas identified by the department for improving population health.
  • Study Protocol Management: Offer expertise in the design, management, and evaluation of study protocols, ensuring their effectiveness and adherence to scientific standards.
  • Research Collaborations: Establish and foster national and international research collaborations to enhance the scope and impact of epidemiological studies on diabetes.
  • Interdisciplinary Research: Encourage the development of interdisciplinary research approaches, fostering collaboration between different fields to address complex health challenges related to diabetes.
  • Staff Training: Provide support and training for department staff to enhance their skills and competencies in epidemiological research methodologies.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the Head of Department to support the overall objectives of the Population Health department

Required Skills and Expertise:

Requirements:
  • Mid-career level
  • Demonstrated publications in peer-reviewed journals within the relevant field, with a reputable H-Index.
  • 8 years of experience with interdisciplinary research.
  • Experience in epidemiological research related to diabetes, including registries, population health surveys, and surveillance.
  • Excellent software skills, including proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Other Comments:

Supervisory Supervision may be required for certain projects or tasks within the department. Education:
  • PhD in (human) Epidemiology
  • BSc in a relevant discipline (e.g., medicine/surgery, nutrition, public health, behavioral science, pharmacy)
