Project Background:

USAID Public Financial Management and Administration (PFMA) aims to partner with USAID/Jordan and the Government of Jordan (GOJ) to improve Jordan’s revenue system and enhance its budget management process. PFMA will build the capacity of the Jordanian Ministry of Finance and other government institutions to modernize the revenue collection system, encourage compliance—including making it easier for taxpayers to comply with tax obligations—upgrade public procurement management, and improve budget planning, preparation, and execution. Key objectives include: 1) improving the revenue-raising system; 2) streamlining the budget management process; 3) optimizing public expenditure management, and 4) implementing crosscutting Public Financial Management reforms such as interventions to address COVID-19. Through a combination of technical assistance, capacity building, and facilitation, tangible and measurable results will be expected during the anticipated five-year duration of the activity.

Position Description:

The project Driver will be responsible for all logistical support for the USAID PFMA office and expatriate staff in terms of residency and work permit issuance, shipments, and clearance in addition to maintaining project vehicles and driving project staff to and from meetings, appointments, and all other project-related travel requests.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Driver project vehicles daily as assigned and/or pre-approved by supervisor, including routing shuttle service runs, scheduled field trips, project-related transportation within Amman, and other driving assignments as required.
  • Clean assigned vehicles daily both inside and out.
  • Check assigned vehicles weekly to ensure that they are operational and safe to drive, including oil, radiator, fan belt, brake fluids, wipers, tires, lights, and signals.
  • Initiate and supervise any repairs required on assigned vehicles with the supervisor’s approval.
  • Initiate and supervise routine periodic maintenance of assigned project vehicles, including oil and filter changes, tune-ups, and professional cleaning by high-pressure hose based on the manufacturer’s instructions on optimum maintenance requirements.
  • Fulfill project reporting requirements and maintain records on vehicle routing, vehicle condition.
  • Ensure passenger safety by obeying traffic laws and driving carefully.
  • Expedite any project request necessary to facilitate the running of the office.
  • Provide logistical support and support activities happening when needed.
  • Assisting in the loading and unloading of program supplies as needed.
  • Prepare and follow up on all logistics documentation for expatriates' residency and work permits.
  • Follow up on related government entities to make sure tax exemption status is granted to PFMA shipments and procurements.
  • Maintain records for project vehicles, residencies, and work permits and arrange for extension as necessary and one-due dates.
  • Ensure compliance with all DAI and local driving laws and regulations.
  • Receiving, storing (protecting), dispatching, and accounting for Office materials.
  • Move office furniture as needed.
  • Any other duties, as assigned by the HR and Office Manager.

Qualifications:

  • A valid driver’s license required.
  • A good driving record and understanding of auto mechanics required.
  • Good physical health required.
  • Availability for overtime work travel is necessary.
  • Proficient English is preferred.
