Roles & Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities 1. Design and Engineering Develop instrumentation and control system designs for new projects and plant modifications. Prepare: Instrument datasheets Instrument index I/O lists Hook-up drawings Loop diagrams Cable schedules Cause & Effect matrices Control narratives Select appropriate field instruments such as: Pressure transmitters Temperature transmitters Flow meters Level transmitters Control valves Analyzers 2. Control System Development Design and configure: Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD) Fire and Gas Detection Systems (FGS) Develop control logic and interlocks. Configure Human Machine Interface (HMI) displays. 3. Installation and Commissioning Supervise instrument installation activities. Verify instrument calibration and testing. Conduct: Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) Loop checking Functional testing Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities Ensure systems operate according to design specifications. 4. Maintenance and Reliability Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Troubleshoot instrument and control system failures. Analyze recurring problems and implement corrective actions. Improve system reliability and availability. Maintain calibration records and maintenance history. 5. Safety and Compliance Ensure compliance with: Process safety requirements Hazardous area regulations Company standards International standards Participate in: HAZOP studies SIL assessments Risk assessments Management of Change (MOC) processes Support process safety management initiatives. 6. Project Management Support Review vendor documents and technical proposals. Coordinate with: Process engineers Mechanical engineers Electrical engineers Operations personnel Contractors and vendors Monitor project schedules and budgets. Provide technical support during project execution. 7. Documentation and Reporting Maintain engineering documentation. Update P&IDs and control system documents. Prepare technical reports and recommendations. Ensure accurate as-built documentation. 8. Optimization and Digitalization Optimize process control loops. Implement advanced process control strategies. Support Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) initiatives. Analyze process data to improve production efficiency and energy utilization. Key Technical Requirements Educational Qualifications Bachelor's degree in: Instrumentation Engineering Control Engineering Electrical Engineering Electronics Engineering Technical Knowledge Process instrumentation principles. Control theory and process control. PLC programming. DCS and SCADA systems.
