Job description: Brief Description
The Officer - Cost Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing production costs, tracking expenses, and preparing cost reports to support budgeting and financial planning. The role involves monitoring inventory, conducting variance analysis, and ensuring accurate cost allocation to maintain profitability and cost efficiency in the production unit.
Key Tasks:
Cost Analysis & Reporting:
- Maintain and analyze cost records for all product lines (protein, commissary, and bakery).
- Prepare detailed cost reports and provide insights to management on cost trends and budget adherence.
- Track and allocate production costs, including labor, materials, and overhead.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor raw material usage, inventory levels, and finished goods to ensure accurate costing.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of inventory accounts and review stock valuation
Variance Analysis:
- Analyze production variances and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Report on any deviations from the budget, standard costs, and suggest corrective actions
Budget & Forecast Support:
- Assist in developing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for production costs.
- Support cost estimates for new products and production changes.
Compliance & Process Improvement:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting standards.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance costing efficiency and accuracy.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (CMA, CPA) are preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
